Critical, not criticising

“I don’t understand this. I don’t believe that.” Don’t take my questioning personal. It’s my way of homing in on the best solution for you.

I’m sorry to say I’m a sceptic by default. Must have to do with my upbringing by scientist parents. Whatever the reason, I find it hard to accept things at face value. Clients have criticised my ‘negative attitude’ when I questioned their brief.

Let me assure you that when I do that, it’s in your best interest. I’m after the single one best solution to your problem, and my tried and tested methodology to find it is by way of exclusion. So please bear with me when I say things like, “I don’t understand this” and “I don’t believe that”. I will eventually, and when I do, the solution to your problem typically isn’t far away.
